Subject: Question on privacy
Message-ID: <3AA68595.DBBC239@cisco.com>
Hi,
For conferencing purposes are there protocols for ensuring privacy?
That is can I broadcast on the MBone and make it available only to
people with whom I share a secret. I understand currently the entire
network is in an experimental stage.
Thanks,
Murtaza

The simplest way to do this is via encryption. Most of the MBone tools support some basic form(s) of encryption, which would ensure the privacy of your communications.
(Personally, I'd advise hitting the various developers over the head with a 2 by 4 until they include better encryption support. MCrypt is not a difficult library to use.)
Hope this is of some help

I would argue that this is the ONLY way. There is no other real way to
ensure that others don't join your groups.

Apropos of this, it was a straightforward set of mods to add support for
the public AES Rijndael implementation; when I get a chance I'll submit
patches back to the vic and rat maintainers..
